Broken Road

I gave my housemate a ride to dock this morning. She will go to Pontianak for symposium. The way was not easy because it was a broken road. In the middle of the road, suddenly I was taught about my experience with canoe... A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor...

Like that broken road sometimes we struggle with uneasy life but one thing that I wanna say...

A smooth road never make a great worrior

Via Dolorosa - Sandi Patty

Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day
The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street
But the crowd pressed in to see
A Man condemned to die on Calvary

He was bleeding
from a beating, there were stripes upon His back
And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head
And He bore with every step
The scorn of those who cried out for His death

(chorus)
Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,
But He chose to walk that road out of His love
For you and me.
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men
Made its way to the heart of Jerusalem.
Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering
Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King
But He chose to walk that road out of His love
For you and me
Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

Blessed Assurance

One day I was watching TV. While I was changing channel, acidentally I saw documentary about Fanny J Crosby... Actually, I always like hymns that she wrote... One of my favorite hymns was Blessed Assurance... And I want to share it's lyric. And someday when I frustated I can hear this song and I hope everybody who hear this song will be blessed

vs.1
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,praising my Savior all the day long;this is my story, this is my song,praising my Savior all the day long.
vs.2
Perfect submission, perfect delight!
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
(Refrain)
vs.3
Perfect submission, all is at rest!
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
(Refrain)

I am Blessed

For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord. He sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:

I love you, Lord, my strength.

The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my strong.

I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and I have been saved from my enemies.

The cords of death entangled me;
the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.

The cords of the grave coiled around me;
the snares of death confronted me.

In my distress I called to the Lord;
I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;
my cry came from him, into his ears.

The earth trembled and quaked,
and the foundations of the mountains shook;
they trembled because he was angry.

Smoke rose from his nostrils;
consuming fire came from his mouth,
burning coals blazed out of it.

He parted the heavens and came down;
dark clouds were under his feet.

He mounted the cherubim and flew;
he soared on the wings of the wind.

He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him-
the dark rain clouds of the sky.

Out of the brightness of his presense clouds advanced,
with hailstones and bolts of lightning.

The Lord thundered from heaven
the voice of the Most High resounded.

He shot his arrows and scattered the enemy
with great bolts of lightning he routed them.

The valleys of the sea were exposed
and the foundations of the earth laid bare
at your rebuke, Lord,
at the blast of breath from your nostrils.

He reached down from on high and took hold of me
he drew me out of deep waters.

He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
from my foes, who were too strong for me.

They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the Lord was my support.

He brought me out into a spacious place;
he rescued me because he delighted in me.

The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me.

For I have kept the ways of the Lord;
I am not guilty of turning from my God.

All his laws are before me;
I have not turned away from his decrees.

I have been blameless before him
and have kept myself from sin.

The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness,
according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight.

To the faithful you show yourself faithful,
to the blameless you show yourself blameless,

to the pure you show yourself pure,
but to the devious you show yourself shrewd.

You save the humble
but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.

You, Lord, keep my lamp burning;
my God turns my darkness into light.

With your help I can advance against a troop;
with my God I can scale a wall.

As for God, his way is perfect:
The Lord’s word is flawless;
he shields all who take refuge in him.

For who is God besides the Lord?
And who is the Rock except our God?

It is God who arms me with strength
and keeps my way secure.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he causes me to stand on the heights.

He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

You make your saving help my shield,
and your right hand sustains me;
your help has made me great.

You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way.

I pursued my enemies and overtook them;
I did not turn back till they were destroyed.

I crushed them so that they could not rise;
they fell beneath my feet.

You armed me with strength for battle;
you humbled my adversaries before me.

You made my enemies turn their backs in flight,
and I destroyed my foes.

They cried for help, but there was no one to save them
to the Lord, but he did not answer.

I beat them as fine as windblown dust;
I trampled them like mud in the streets.

You have delivered me from the attacks of the people;
you have made me the head of nations.
People I did not know now serve me,
foreigners cower before me;
as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.

They all lose heart;
they come trembling from their strongholds.

The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be God my Savior!

He is the God who avenges me,
who subdues nations under me,
who saves me from my enemies.
You exalted me above my foes;
from a violent man you rescued me.

Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing the praises of your name.

He gives his king great victories;
he shows unfailing love to his anointed,
to David and to his descendants forever.

Psalm 18

Tonight I had a nice conversation with a friend while was biking. We talked about her feeling about some situation. From that conversation, I realized something and I want to share this Psalm. I just want to say, "I am blessed"

Listen...

I am writing because still have no mood to study. My brain full with unnecessary things and I should read a ton topics about medicine.

When did round, usually I couldn't understand what people say when she/he reported patient use English because English isn't my mother language. One of my friend said that I should focus and listen more carefully. How can I listen if I always more easy to distract?

Talking about anything especially in relationship, listening is the most important but also the difficult thing to do. People usually quick to speak but slow to listen. But it is different from what bible teach us

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:19-20

Canoeing

Another wonderful experience again today. Four of us (all girls) went to a beach for canoeing. None of us ever had expecience canoeing at the ocean before but we still insist to did that. That was very hard for us to pedalled because high tide. So we adrift on the ocean. We wanted to cross to the island instead we went to another way. After a hours we decided if a half hour later we still in the same place, we will called a friend who has speedboat to pick us. But one of friend gave spirit to keep try. And after tried hard we could back to the shore...

This experience teach me about...

A Leader
I imagine this experience as a life. How life without direction. We will like a canoe on the ocean which floating without knowing where to go. We need a captain to lead us to go. A life captain, that is God. A map that is bible.

A Partnership
This canoe can't speed without cooperation among us. In the middle of despair, we have an optimistic friend who give us spirit to try again. Life is like that. We can't life alone. We need people to make our life colorfull, cheerful, and meaningful.

Persistence
We can't comeback if we didn't persevere to keep try. Sometimes in life we have to persevere. When we fail, we have to try it again until we know what's wrong then fix our mistakes.

Keep trying and keep learning

A smooth sea never make a skillful sailor

Human : The Great Creature

Today is a wonderful day... Like usual, I like to learn something new and I learn another today. I had a patient with acute cholecystitis, liver abcess and COPD. I checked this patient while I was supervised by my friend (one of great doctor). After that we discussed it. I like he statement, "Internal medicine look whole systems". He also said, "If you give treatment and it doesn't work, you should reassess. Probably your treatment inadequate or you make wrong diagnose. So give treatment then reassess. Treatment then reassess again." He taught me to rely on taking history and physical examination to diagnose diseases. CT-scan, MRI, X-Ray or Ultrasound etc just help to establish your diagnose based on history and physical examination. You can't treat CT-Scan or X-Ray but treat diseases.

In the middle of discussion, he taught me how to synthesize all history become a differential diagnoses then rule out it one by one. When I make differential diagnoses, I should know the reasons why I put it in. From this one patient, I learn a lot about how great human is. Every systems connect each other. It can affect others.

When I think about this, I praise, "How Great Thou Art." because He creates a wonderful creature which is a human. I can't understand it at all. Complex but also simple. Every parts of human body tells about How Great Thou Art...

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes say my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand - when I awake, I am still with you. Psalm 139:13-18

Letter From Kids

Today I read letter from a kids in Washington Elementary School to kids in Sukadana. That letters I saw accidentally in my friend's room. They also submitted their pictures so I can figure out what their face like. I read their letters while was imagining they wrote it. They are cute and I like them. Then I asked my friend, "Can I replay one?" I try to figure out their personality based on their letter and picture.

I love kids. And I wonder what they will struggle with in the future. Can they still have a pure heart like a kid? What they will be 10 or 20 years later? Do they have a persons that will love them?

I learn from them. Learn about pure heart, enthusiasm to learn and grow up.

And I will pray for them...
